By accessing or using Vocabulary Builder ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service. If you are under 13 years old, please ensure you have parental or your school's consent before using this Service.

2. Description of Service

Vocabulary Builder is an educational application designed to help students expand their vocabulary through:

  • Interactive word games
  • AI-powered word definitions and explanations
  • Progress tracking and achievements
  • Word lists and flashcards

The Service is intended for educational purposes for students.

3. User Accounts

3.1 Account Creation: You may create an account using Google sign-in or through Microsoft Teams single sign-on (SSO).

3.2 Account Security: You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.

3.3 Accurate Information: You agree to provide accurate, current information when creating your account and to keep this information updated.

3.4 Guest Mode: You may use limited features of the Service without creating an account, but your progress will not be saved across devices.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
  • Use automated systems (bots, scripts) to access the Service
  • Harass, abuse, or harm other users
  • Share inappropriate content or language
  • Attempt to reverse engineer or copy the Service
  • Exceed rate limits or abuse API endpoints
  • Share your account with others

5. Content and Intellectual Property

5.1 Our Content: All content, features, and functionality of the Service, including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, and software, are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.

5.2 Your Content: You retain ownership of the word lists you create. By using the Service, you grant us a license to use, store, and display your content as necessary to provide the Service.

5.3 AI-Generated Content: Word definitions and explanations generated by AI are provided for educational purposes. While we strive for accuracy, we do not guarantee that all AI-generated content is 100% accurate.

6. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.

7. School Features and Leaderboards

7.1 Optional Participation: Providing your school name and class is optional. If you choose to provide this information, you may appear on school leaderboards.

7.2 Leaderboard Data: If you participate in school leaderboards, your word counts will be visible to other students from your school.

7.3 Opting Out: You can remove your school information at any time in Settings to stop appearing on leaderboards.

8. Disclaimers

8.1 Educational Tool: The Service is an educational tool to supplement learning. It is not a substitute for formal education or professional tutoring.

8.2 No Warranties: The Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to accuracy, reliability, or fitness for a particular purpose.

8.3 Service Availability: We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free. We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the Service at any time.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, or other intangible losses resulting from your use of the Service.

10. Termination

10.1 Your Rights: You may delete your account at any time through the Settings page.

10.2 Our Rights: We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, for violation of these Terms or for any other reason.

10.3 Effect of Termination: Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease, and we may delete your account and data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

11. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
